Hi from chilly Montreal! I am working and kind of sight seeing, doing a lot of planning for upcoming stamp club, scrapbooking classes, and the Spring Crop. Oh yeah, and my Stamping Sirens Team is getting together for a Shoe Box Swap too. I swear, I think this is what gets me through these out of town trips, planning events for when I return. I was wondering through the Westmount area a couple of days ago. This is such a beautiful old area, you can fell the history of it all around you, I am sure of it. My hotel is in Westmount, it's quite a hike to the Mirabel airport so I am switching tomorrow to the Dorval airport Residence Inn, it's shaving 15 min off my drive every evening and hopefully they won't be jackhammering throughout the day! (they are doing some badly needed renovations here). Anyhow, here are a couple of photos for ya...
So I don't know if this photo conveys how friggen cool this book store is. I was walking by and saw some books in a window and decided to pull open the door and aaaaaaahhhhh (tha't angels singing). 3 floors of loveliness. I think there was, like, one copy of each book in that store, but through the hour or so I was in there locals were stopping by and picking up books that they had ordered, the sales staff (I counted 4) were suggesting books for everyone if they asked. A far cry from Costco! So I chose a book for my hubby and they GIFT WRAPPED it for me for free! wowzers.
you know me, I can smell coffee miles away. and I am finding that there are a lot of Second Cups in Montreal. which is cool with me, they are canadian, after all:) so I enjoyed a dark chocolate latte and look at my view out the window...
Do any of you watch HGTV for hours, or is it just me? Do you know the show The Property Shop with Tatiana? Well, if you look to the left, see the funny windows on that building? I recognized it right away, and when I googled it, yep, it's her office building! Cool eh? (I'm a nerd, I know). Okay, so I had a great day. But I have a shot of an old airport that I wanted to share with you as well. On the weekend, before I flew to Montreal I flew to Gander, NFLD to sign out a fedex airplane that was stranded there. I arrived at 1:30 in the morning and had to work, then check in for my flight at 5 am! yikes. and it was bitterly cold there. Anyway, look at this quaint little airport...
Isn't it adoreable!? It was build it the 50s and so many famous people have been here it's insane. But the furniture is original. Gander is a well known last stop before "hopping the pong" (going to Europe) for fuel, maintenance or medical emergencies. And Joy, the FBO employee for Allied (who helped me out a lot) told me she was working when a 757 Tom Cruise hired to take all his friends to his and Katie's wedding in Europe landed for fuel! Imagine! J Lo, Brooke Shields, a tonne of famous people. And she sees John Travolta (with his own airplane) there almost regularly. I even got to see the Pilot's lounge, I was supposed to sleep there but ended up having only enough time to snap a few picutures, brush my teeth and was up!
it's not the best shot, but look outside! there was some COLD going on there, man. Allright, sorry I don't have any stampin up shots today, I plan to do some stamping tonight after work... I'm working on the coolest card for stamp club EVER... so please stay tuned.... Ev
