This shoe box swap is a great way to get some great samples to show our customers new products from the new summer mini catalog!
while you don't have to use stamp sets from the upcoming mini, it's strongly encouraged.. . that's why we are doing the swap near the end of april, this gives us time to preorder and get it in on time! anyone who uses new sets, from the upcoming cattie this month, will be garaunteed a prize from me!
this is also a great chance to bring geusts who may be thinking about becoming demos...
ok, so what is a shoebox swap and what do we do?
since the shoe box swap is open to as many as 40 participants, I am going to use this as an example in my numbers here. we will adjust our numbers as needed, I promise to give you an accurate count a week ahead of time.
so we are going to design (or go on split coast stampers or other website and find one) a really cute card. something that is a perfect make n take to do at a workshop. you know, a workshop, something you girls are all doing regularly, right? LOL so the card should be cute, easy to do and demonstrate, and using ONLY CURRENT STAMPIN UP PRODUCTS. This is a stampin up event, I expect to not see pattern paper from micheals or similar things here.sorry to be a stickler, but i am supposed to be "training and guiding" you as your upline, what good am I if I encourage other stuff!? besides, we all know stampin up is the best LOL if you are not sure, just ask! each card should have at least 2 layers, with a couple of embellishments (don't go crazy, this doesn't mean hardware or other expensive things, it means using punches, ribbon, linen thread, etc) keep it simple, cute is key... if you are bringing a guest, you must help them! show them a few resources for finding great cards, give them feedback on their choice. the cardstock should be cut straight, with a sharp blade (how many times have you gotten a swap where someone used a dull blade and the layers look like kaka?) and the stamping should be crisp and clean. you know what makes a great card!
so you will design the card, and make 20 of them to swap. you will also cut for another 20, putting the supplies for each card in a baggie. you will then take a "shoebox" and fill it with the supplies to make the card... punches, ink, whatever you need to make the card. of course, it doesn't have to be a shoebox, it can me a basket or whatever. so when you come in to the super 8, I'll assign you as group a or group b.
You'll submit your 20 completed cards to me in a big ziplock bag with your name on it in felt pen, and I'll write group a or b on it. you will then go to the group a or group b section of the room and set up your shoebox, take out the supplies and set them on the grid paper, with the sample and if you need to, any directions that you want to put there for the people making your card.
you will then head to the other side of the room, sit at one of the spots, and make all the 20 cards laid out there. for example, if you are group a, you will set your stuff up at a group a table, then go to the group b section and do all the group b projects. it's nice when all your pieces of cardstock are nice and neat in a little bag ready to go, you just grab that, look at the sample and start staming away. when you leave, i'll hand you the big ziploc bag back, full of the other group a cards and oila! you will go home with 40 fabulous cardfronts! hope that makes sense. if 10 people sign up, you will make 5 ahead of time and 5 the night of, if 20 sign up, you will do 10 ahead and 10 that night... hopefully we will have a full house tho!
I am giving demonstrators first dibs, which means i'm leaving it open to demos until March 31, you must send me the payment to hold your spot. then we'll open it up to guests, with everyone paid and committed for April 10th. this gives us lots of time to cut and prepare the projects, right?
this is a great tool in workshop planning. please do your best work, any long distance girls, sign on up and send me your projects, (all completed, and you'll get your samples all completed back)
can't waite, the last one we did there was a lot of fun!
